Anaerobic-aerobic technology of biological waste-water treatment

Description
Perspective technology of biological waste-water treatment, which provides achievement of modern standards of releasing high-molecular organic compounds, compounds of nitrogen, phosphor, suspended material and etc. into water is proposed. Technology is appropriable for urban and industrial waste-water. Researches and implementation of this technology were performed on leatherworking plant, milk-plant, and malt-plant in Ukraine. Technology implements sequentially in buildings with different oxygen conditions (anaerobic, anoxic, aerobic) with the use of immobilized on carriers microorganisms.

Innovative aspect and main advantages:
As result of developed technology using, precipitates are formed for 3-5 times lesser and energy consumption decreases for 50 %. Usage of immobilized microorganisms provides high concentration of biomass in structure (9-15 g/dm3), high quality of formed precipitate (ash content approximate 50 %), absence of outer and inner recirculation of active sludge and waste-water, resulting in absence of pump equipment and decreasing of blowing station productivity. Basing on results of laboratory and pilot researches, construction calculation methodic of anaerobic-aerobic technology structure (bioreactor), quantity of carrier for option of existing structure reconstruction and designing of new structure were developed.

Problem solved:
Decreasing of water quality in natural reservoirs in last years proceeds due to increasing of anthropogenic pressure, in first place due to uncontrolled release of unrefined or insufficiently refined waste-water of numerous industrial and communal objects. According to national report about condition of environment in Ukraine, 34-46 % of waste-water with unsatisfied quality get into water objects. Increasing of organic compounds, compounds of nitrogen and phosphor concentration in waste-water has resulted to worsening quality of water reservoirs, which are the main source of fresh water supply for majority of Ukrainians. In several water reservoirs of Ukraine excess of maximum allowable releases for ammonia in 2-15 times, nitrates in 7-20 times, phosphate in 2-5 times. Majority of existing water treatment facilities does not provide sufficient quality of refining waste-waters from nitrogen and phosphor compounds, because, according to СНіП 2.04.03-85, they are focused on organic compounds removal.
